Fans of cross-country skiing can access the 107 kilometres of trails in the local region directly from the TAUERN SPA. These trails are kept in excellent condition and can be used for the traditional Classic style as well as the more modern and dynamic Skating style. Highlights include trails passing Kaprun Castle, cross-country skiing on the glacier and even nighttime skiing on floodlit slopes.
TAUERN SPA trail
Our resort gives its name to a 2.8 km cross-country skiing trail in Kaprun starting right outside our front door. This loop is the perfect introduction to cross-country skiing and a great way to experience the beauty of our region at a slower pace.
Along the way you will enjoy excellent views of Kaprun Castle and the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier as well as the Schmittenhöhe mountain and the mighty peaks of the Hohe Tauern National Park. The trail is floodlit in the evening until 22:00.

Cross-country skiing near the TAUERN SPA
The 55 kilometres of cross-country skiing trails in Zell am See-are connected to the even larger networks in the Pinzgau and Saalachtal regions to form a total of 107 kilometres taking in many pretty villages.
The local trails are also suitable for beginners. We particularly recommend the Schlossloipe and Brunnwiesloipe trails, both just a stone's throw from the TAUERN SPA.
Lessons & equipment
For those new to the sport or returning after a while away, we recommend a lesson with our partner Ski Dome. Individual lessons and group courses are available.
Equipment can be hired from Bründl Sports and Ski Dome Oberschneider in Kaprun, just a two-minute drive from the TAUERN SPA.
